items included in the SciGuide still will not play.

I work on a Mac and don't have Word. Will I
still be able to download and use the lesson plan file?
-
I'm interested in purchasing access to more than
one SciGuide, is there a discount for ordering more than one?
-
I have some web resources that I think are good.

For this type of error, please contact WebWatchers
SciGuide support at 703-312-9384 (10am - 6pm EST) or visit

for more assistance.

How will I know when my order has been processed?
Your order will be
processed immediately. On the completed order page there is a link to "My
Library" and links to the SciGuides you just purchased. When you return to the
SciGuides home page, simply log in and select the "My Library" link at the top
of the page to view your list of SciGuides. In addition, you will receive an
email conformation of your purchase.
-
I forgot my username and/or password, what do I do now?
You can do one of two things. First, contact
SciGuides Support at http://supportsciguides.nsta.org/user,
register and request your username and password be sent to you via email.
Second, if you need to access your SciGuide immediately, call SciGuide Support
between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM Eastern Time at 703-312-9384 and request your
username and password from the SciGuide Tech Support Representative.
-
When I select a page to visit from the keyword list it does not show up?
One of two things could be
happening here. First, when a SciGuide links to an outside resource, it opens
in a new window. If you have a pop-up blocker in place the new window will be
blocked from opening, so the first thing is to check if you have a pop-up
blocker on and if so, turn it off.
If you get a "Page Cannot Be Found" error, please
report it to us using SciGuides Tech Support System found at http://supportsciguides.nsta.org/user.
We sincerely apologize for this type of error and work to correct them as soon
as possible.

Okay, the SciGuides link to simulations. So what
kind of plug -ins do I need to make them work?
You will need to make sure that you have the most
current versions of Macromedia's Flash and Shockwave and one of the media
players, such as Windows Media Player, Quicktime, or Real Player. Visit
http://supportsciguides.nsta.org/user
for links to download these applications.

items included in the SciGuide still will not play.
Try clearing your web browser's cache first.
This can usually be done from your browser's settings or preferences. Then
re-launch your browser. If you continue to experience problems after updating
the plug-in and emptying your cache, we recommend that you re-install Flash,
but make sure you follow these simple steps before reinstalling. (The installer
allows you to select either Netscape or Internet Explorer. You can apply these
steps to either browser.)
- Quit the browser
-
Locate the Plug-ins folder. Netscape and IE both
retain separate plug-in folders, which are located inside their respective
application folders. You can perform a Find for "Plug-ins" to quickly
locate the folder.
-
Remove and trash the following plug-in files from your Plug-ins folder:
Macintosh Users
ShockwavePlugin.class
Shockwave Flash NP-PPC
NP-PPC-Dir-Shockwave
PC Users
ShockwavePlugin
ShockwaveFlash.class
- Run the Shockwave installer again, selecting which browser to install to.
If you are using a Macintosh (OS 9 or below),
and you are still having problems, we suggest allocating more RAM to your
Macintosh web browser. To do this:
- Quit the browser
- Select the application's icon in the Finder.
- Select GET INFO from the File Menu
-
In the Memory section of the window that
appears, increase the Preferred Size to at least 25,000 KB. Go even higher if
your computers have enough RAM. (You can see how much free RAM is available by
selecting ABOUT THIS COMPUTER from the Apple Menu while the Finder is the
frontmost application.)
- Re-launch the web browser application.
-
I work on a Mac and don't have Word. Will I
still be able to download and use the lesson plan file?
Yes, one of two things will happen. Mac OSX will
either open the Microsoft Word document in either Appleworks or Text edit. To
save the file for future use simply copy and past the text into the application
of your choice and save

I'm interested in purchasing access to more than
one SciGuide, is there a discount for ordering more than one?
Currently, there is not a discount for an
individual ordering more than one SciGuide, but it is under advisement for the
future. If you are interested in purchasing a suite of SciGuides for an
individual school building or school district please contact the Program
Manager for the SciGuides at sciguideinfo@nsta.org
or 703-312-9382

I have some web resources that I think are good.
Where should I send them to see if they are okay for a SciGuide?
At the bottom of each SciGuide page is a link
titled Suggest a Page. When you select the that link it will open an email
message for you to suggest a page that you think would be a good fit for a particular
SciGuide. In the message make sure you include the url for the page you would
like considered and the Guide Title, Theme Title and Keyword Title. From here a
SciGuide expert will consider the page for inclusion in a SciGuide.
