How Can I Use the Internet in My Classroom?

Question 2: How do I engage my students when I have?

Not all schools in the nation have the same level of access to technology and the Internet. While things are improving across the country, there are pockets where teachers are fortunate if they can access the Internet from a few computers in the media center. Do not be discouraged! There is a wealth of collaborative opportunities available for you and your classroom that permit you to exchange data and correspond with classrooms across the world that do not require a bank of 24 simultaneously connected high speed Internet computers. In fact, rich collaboration and data exchanges between distant classrooms can occur with just a single email address.

Use the links below for additional examples based on your level of connectivity.

  1. A single computer with Internet access (and an LCD)

  2. Two-four computers with Internet access

  3. A computer lab down the hall

  4. A portable cart with wireless laptops
